This is the first installment of a new weekly update we will be doing on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we will post pictures from the set of a movie you haven't seen in a while, or possibly ever.
First up are a couple of pictures from the 1927 masterpiece Metropolis. Considered by many film buffs to be one of the greatest movies of all time. Directed by Fritz Lang the movie stars Alfred Abel, Gustav Frohlich and Brigitte Helm. Roger Ebert said of the film:
"The movie has a plot that defies common sense, but its very discontinuity is a strength. It makes "Metropolis'' hallucinatory--a nightmare without the reassurance of a steadying story line. Few films have ever been more visually exhilarating."
I know this choice was a way back throwback, but if you get a chance and want to check out a visually stunning silent film this is the one. Either way enjoy the old pictures and check back next Thursday to see which set we Throw it back to.
