A Look Back: The Making of "What to Expect When You're Expecting"

"A Look Back" will be another series of posts we here at Caughtonset.com will feature weekly. It's as simple as the title makes it sound. Each Friday we will take "A Look Back" to the set of a newly released film. Look at pictures from the set today, then watch the movie tonight.

Was Brooklyn Decker pregnant last year? Never mind, it was a false alarm. These old pictures are from July of 2011 in Atlanta, Ga. A very pregnant looking Decker was on location filming scenes for her newest film What to Expect When You're Expecting. The movie hits theaters all around the US today. From Rogerebert.com:

"What to Expect" is a cheerful comedy with just enough dark moments to create the illusion it's really about something. It toplines Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick and Brooklyn Decker as prospective mothers, and as three live births are intercut, Diaz wins the screaming contest as people shout "push! push!" at her. The girl's a trouper. Maybe we should be grateful that Lopez, in Ethiopia to meet her adoptive son, doesn't start screaming in sympathy.

But I'm being too snarky. This is a good-hearted movie with some winning performances, but it has so many characters (including a boys' club of new dads) that the plot nearly stalls with gridlock. It's clever but the stories are thin soup."

That was not quite the glowing review I was expecting and hoping for. Well I'll just have to pay my money to see if Mr. Ebert is wrong. (He rarely is in my opinion.) The movie also stars Dennis Quaid (pictured), Chace Crawford, Matthew Morrison, and the always funny Chris Rock. Check here for showtimes in your area.

Cheryl Cole is seen on the set of What to Expect When You're Expecting last week in Atlanta, Georgia (August 31). Wow, I guess she really doesn't want the paparazzi to take her picture!

The British pop star was spotted on set earlier in the week as well - check out some pics here.

Looks like Cheryl has buried the hatchet with Simon Cowell over him booting her as a judge from the American version of The X Factor that's set to premiere this month. A source told The Daily Mail:

"Simon invited her for dinner. He did all the running – he was much more upset about their friendship breaking down than he let on. They talked about the sacking and Simon explained why it happened, and apologized for the first time. Simon has told Cheryl he wants to work on future projects together."

Whitney Port is spotted on the set of the ensemble comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting last week in Atlanta, Georgia (August 30). The movie will be the feature film debut for the popular reality star.

Could we be seeing Whitney in another movie? She told People magazine last month that she's open to the idea of appearing in a movie version of the hit MTV series she starred in, The Hills:

"I think it would be cool ... I don't know that there's anything actually happening ... I know that [producer Adam DiVello] once mentioned that that would be a goal of his to make a movie version. I haven't heard anything, but I know that it's something our producer wanted to do."

Cameron Diaz is spotted on the set of her new film What To Expect When You're Expecting on Monday in Atlanta (August 29). Is that a perm she's rocking?

Is Cameron clashing with co-star Jennifer Lopez on set? An insider told Now magazine that the two can't seem to get along:

"Cam thinks J-Lo's a nightmare and gives movie stars a bad name. She's even said that Jen should stick to her day job, meaning American Idol and singing. Jen's constantly taking mini-breaks from the set to see her twins. She demands to eat at specific times, no matter what. It's driving Cameron crazy."

Cameron Diaz is seen on the set of her new film What to Expect When You're Expecting in Atlanta earlier this week (August 23). Baby bump!

Chace Crawford, Anna Kendrick, Dennis Quaid, and Brooklyn Decker have also been spotted on the set of the film recently - check out their pics on the What to Expect When You're Expecting page.

Diaz plays a Jillian Michaels-type host of a fitness show in the new film, which is based on the bestselling book of the same name (though the book doesn't actually have a plot).

Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick are spotted on the set of the ensemble romantic comedy What To Expect When You're Expecting last week in Atlanta (August 10). Chace is also filming the new season of Gossip Girl up in New York, so he's definitely keeping busy.

Brooklyn Decker and Dennis Quaid were seen on set late last month as well - check out their pics here and here.

It's just been confirmed that Girls Aloud singer/TV host Cheryl Cole will maker her debut appearance in the film, possibly as a TV talent show judge. Her PR team tweeted: "Cheryl Cole is confirmed for a small cameo appearance in the film What To Expect When You're Expecting."

How exciting for her!
