This is a look at Jon Hamm behind the scenes, and behind the camera on the set of Mad Men. The man behind TV’s coolest character, Don Draper sat down for an interview with AMC’s web site for a quick Q&A session and had this to say about directing. From AMCtv.com –

Q: You directed Episode 3, "Tea Leaves." What was that like?

A: It was a thrill. Honestly, it was really fun... I think it was helpful for the rest of the cast to have a familiar face behind the lens.

Q: Has directing changed your perspective on the show?

A: Yeah. You see explicitly how much work from goes into making it, and you see other sides of the show that you were completely unaware of as an actor. And it just gives you a whole new respect for how many people are really pulling an oar and making the boat go.

Q: Do you think the audience will be able to see Jon Hamm's touch in the episode?

A: [Laughs] Probably not... My job was not to go in there and muck it up and say, "I'm gonna put my stamp on this." My job was to go in there and keep the train on the tracks, basically. We have a very firmly established tone and look to our show that people respond to, and that I love

Sounds like he had fun behind the camera, I wonder if we’ll see him working as a director more often now that he has a taste of it. But I think most people would agree, especially you ladies, that we would rather see him in front of the camera. You can catch Mad Men on AMC Sundays at 10/9c. You can bet I'll be watching, I can’t wait to see what happens between Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) and Roger (John Slattery).

What did you think of the Jon Hamm-directed episode “Tea Leaves”?
