A Look Back: "Lawless"

"A Look Back” is a series of posts we here at Caughtonset.com feature weekly. It’s as simple as the title makes it sound. Each Friday we will take “A Look Back” to the set of a newly released film. Look at pictures from the set today, then watch the movie tonight.

Today we take a look back at another new release, although this movie was actually released on Wednesday. Some of you may have already seen it, so maybe you'll recognize some of the scenes that were being filmed. Or some of these shots may not have made it into the final cut of the film and are sitting on the cutting room floor so to speak.

If you haven't guessed by the title of the post and the pictures, today we look back at Lawless. The 1920's set movie stars Tom Hardy, Shia LeBouf, Guy Peace, Jessica Chastain and Gary Oldman. I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but I really hope it's good. Gary Oldman needs to win an Oscar sometime soon, so maybe this will be the role that finally makes that happen. I still don't understand why it hasn't happened yet.

The Weekend Winner: "The Dark Knight Rises"

The Weekend Winner is a weekly update here on Caught on Set. Every Monday we will post pictures from the set of the movie that wins the box office battle over the weekend.

Another weekend in the theaters and another week at the top of the box office for The Dark Knight Rises. Great performances by Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the rest of the cast have kept TDKR on top over all the new releases. From BoxOfficeMojo.com:

For the third weekend in a row Batman was able to hold the top spot over a highly advertised new release. Last week TDKR held off The Watch and this week it won the box office battle against the Total Recall remake. You would think a movie starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel would be able to beat a movie in it's third week in theaters. I think that would normally be the case but not when it's the Caped Crusader.

The Weekend Winner: "The Dark Knight Rises"

The Weekend Winner is a weekly update here on Caught on Set. Every Monday we will post pictures from the set of the movie that wins the box office battle over the weekend.

No surprise this week as The Dark Knight Rises once again won the box office battle over the weekend. The Caped Crusader pulled in a very impressive $64 million during it's second weekend in theaters. From Boxofficemojo.com:

The biggest surprise to me is that The Watch made so little money after all of the advertising they did leading up to the release date. It had to be very disappointing to make less money in your debut weekend than an animated film that is the 4th in it's series and in it's third week in theaters. I guess not too many people like "skinny" Jonah Hill in their movies.

A Look Back: "The Dark Knight Rises"

The Dark Knight Rises hit theaters across the country at midnight today. The highly anticipated Batman follow up is no doubt going to win the box office battle this weekend. Pretty much the only competition for The Dark Knight Rises at this point is history.

Tom Hardy is spotted on the set of The Dark Knight Rises in New York on Sunday (November 6). Can't wait to see this film! I know Tom (aka Bane) is going to be an amazing villain.

Hardy told Reuters in September that he was sort of shocked when director Christopher Nolan called and asked if he wanted to be in the new Batman film:

"Chris rings and says, 'I'm not sure if it's your sort of thing because it would mean wearing a mask. How do you feel about wearing a mask as an actor?' How do I feel about wearing a mask? I'd wear a plastic bag over my head for Chris! I'll do anything for him. I did not see that coming. I never, ever thought I'd be in Batman."

Tom Hardy and Christian Bale are seen enjoying a friendly chat together in between takes of The Dark Knight Rises in New York on Saturday (November 5). Who said Batman and Bane couldn't be friends?

It was announced last week that Christian will be taking a supporting role in the new Terrence Malick film Lawless. The film will star Ryan Gosling and also feature Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Haley Bennett. Plot details are being kept pretty secret.

First pics of Anne Hathaway on the set of "The Dark Knight Rises"

A glammed-out Anne Hathaway is seen on the set of The Dark Knight Rises in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania yesterday (August 4). These are the first images of Anne - who plays Selina Kyle and her alter ego Catwoman in the film - on set.

Anne told Total Film earlier this week why why she went after the Catwoman role:

"I went after it because it was the best role and Chris [Nolan] was willing to meet me. I want to be the best actress I can be and that means working with the best people and taking the most challenging roles. That's the plan and so far it's led to some really exciting places ... [the movie] is going to be really good."
