Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

This week's Throwback isn't a movie, but that's ok. I'm the one who makes the rules so I can break them whenever I feel like it. Today I feel like it in order to show you this awesome picture of Kurt Cobain front he set of the Smells Like Teen Spirit music Video.

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

If you don't know who Kurt Cobain is, your name must be Rip Van Winkle and you just woke up. (If you don't know who he is, google it and tell your parents to pay more taxes to fund school, so that you can actually learn something.) I have to admit, I never have been a fan of Nirvana's music, but I can still appreciate the band and it's unfortunate and iconic front man. Enjoy the pic, because it's almost friday!

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

Today we take a look at a film that is not only a cinema classic, but also a literary one as well. The Outsiders is an amazing book and movie. I don't even like books, or reading for that matter, and I loved this story. If you've never seen this movie, or read the book you have to go and do both now. Right now. Go ahead, I'll wait...You loved it didn't you?

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

I can explain how awesome this movie without any descriptive words. Here's all you need to know about it. Novel written by S.E. Hinton. Movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Starring C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise and Diane Lane. If those names don't sell you on how great this movie is, I don't know what to tell you. Actually I was going to have you read a review of the movie, but it turns out that Roger Ebert didn't think to highly of it. So do your own research or just take my word for it and watch the damn movie.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

This week's Thursday Throwback is a bit of an unknown. Even though it starred Clint Eastwood during the height of his career The Beguiled was not one of his better known films. It wasn't nominated for any awards when it was released and it hasn't been named on any "Greatest Movies" lists that I've seen. From Imdb.com:

"While imprisoned in a Confederate girls boarding school, a Union soldier cons his way into each of the lonely women's hearts."

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

I just saw this movie for the first time recently and I didn't know anything about it before watching it. All I knew was that it starred Clint Eastwood in his prime so I watched it. It wasn't one of the better movies I've ever watched but it was very entertaining. Perhaps one of the reasons it wasn't received so warmly is the fact that Clint's character, John McBurney, wasn't a very good guy. Most people came to expect Clint to be the hero in everyone of his movies and this role definitely broke that mold. If you are a fan of Clint Eastwood and you haven't seen this movie you really need to see it. If only to see him play a role that you aren't used to seeing him in. Hell, this movie isn't even a western.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

Today we look back to one of my all time favorite movies. Of All Time! I'm a big movie lover and I love all, or at least most of the classics. Some people have even said that I'm a "movie snob." Today's throwback is to 1984's Gremlins.

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

I absolutely adore this movie. I may be a "movie snog" but I sure do appreciate the movies that remind me of growing up. Gremlins came out in theaters before I was old enough to go to theaters, but I saw this movie more than enough times on VHS and cable more than enough times to make up for it. If you have never seen Gremlins then you don't understand the connection to Gizmo. One of the all time underrated characters in movie history. You absolutely need to watch this movie if you haven't seen it yet. Gremlins. 1984. Do it. Nowish!

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

Today we get to see pictures from the set of The Godfather. Francis Ford Coppola's Mob classic stars Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Caan, Robert Duvall and Diane Keaton among many others. Released in 1972 it was based on the novel and screenplay written by Mario Puzo.

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

The Godfather is widely regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time and won the Academy Award for Best Picture. The AFI named the movie the #2 greatest film of all time. I completely agree with that ranking for The Godfather, although it should be #2 behind Casablanca not Citzen Kane, but that's a conversation for another time. This story, writing, acting, directing and editing are so great even the sequel won the Oscar for best picture in 1975.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

This week we throw it all the way back to 1985. The year of Tetris, We Are The World and Back to The Future. More importantly though, it was the year that Steven Spielberg, Chris Columbus and Richard Donner brought us The Goonies.

This movie is a classic and you can hardly find anyone who was young in the 80's who didn't love that movie. It had everything you want in a movie. A treasure hunt, intrigue, danger, young talented actors and a super hottie, I loved me some Kerri Green back in the day. You owe it to yourself to watch or re-watch this movie if it's been a while. The Goonies is one of my all time favorite movies and for good reason.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

This might be the oldest movie we've ever thrown it back to... or the exact opposite. 2008's The Dark Knight was to be Heath Ledger's second to last movie and featured him in perhaps his most memorable role as the Joker. The Dark Knight's cast also featured the amazing talents of Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

I know 2008 isn't that long ago, but 4 years is a pretty long time. Besides with the release and subsequent success of The Dark Knight Rises makes this week's Throwback more relevant. I wonder if Heath Ledger had not tragically taken his own life, would they have tried to bring him back for TDKR? He was so great in the role, even winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, it's hard to imagine him not being involved in TDKR if he were still available.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

Today we throw it all the way back to 1984 on the set of Ghostbusters. This classic film stars Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, William Atherton and Sigourney Weaver. Director Ivan Reitman was at the helm and he made one hell of a movie.

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

I absolutely loved this movie as a kid. I even loved the cartoons and toys they sold with them. I had the station house, the ectomobile (a replica, not the actual vehicle that was for sale a while ago). I even have my very own proton pack! That was the greatest toy I ever had in my life. If I saw one again I would buy it, no matter how old I get. In short, you should watch this movie and buy the toys if you're into that kind of thing.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

Today we have behind the scenes photos from yet another of Hollywood's greatest films. Taxi Driver, released in 1976, was written by Paul Schrader who also wrote Raging Bull and American Gigolo among many others. Martin Scorsese was put in charge to direct only his 4th feature length film of his legendary career. Robert De Niro, Cybill Sheperd and a 12 year old Jodie Foster. From IMBD.com:

"A mentally unstable Vietnam war veteran works as a nighttime taxi driver in New York City where the perceived decadence and sleaze feeds his urge to violently lash out, attempting to save a teenage prostitute in the process."

If you haven't seen the film, Jodie Foster plays the teenage prostitute character that De Niro's Character Travis Bickle tries to save. In 1997 the AFI named Taxi Driver as the 47th best film of all time. It truly is a great movie and a classic. If you haven't seen it yet you really should.

Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.

Today I'm going straight to "Quint" from Ain't It Cool News to explain these pictures from the set of Stanely Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Loved the Bomb.

"Did you know that Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove originally ended with a pie fight? Sure you did! You’re all good geeks. The original ending has long been discussed by Kubrick geeks, but not much has come out from the filming of this silly ending in which the war room literally erupts into a food fight.

Kubrick called the original ending “a disaster of Homeric proportions,” but damned if I don’t want to see it…"

PICTURES: Check out more on the Throwback Thursday page

Holy crap, I never knew Dr. Strangelove had an alternate ending. I guess you really do learn something new everyday. Now I really want to see the footage of this scene, especially if it is as bad as Kubrick said it was. I really hope someone finds the lost footage from this scene and leaks it onto the internets so we all can watch it. Kubrick made a great decision to stick with the ending he did as the movie turned out great. It was even named the 26th best movie of all time by the AFI in 1997, I wonder if it would have made the list if the pie fight scene was left in? I guess we'll never know.
