Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson are seen on the set of The Avengers at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park last Friday (September 2). Looks like the film has moved onto Manhattan after spending a few weeks filming in Cleveland (check out The Avengers page for some pics from the Ohio city).

Also spotted on set was Chris Evans - check out the pics in the gallery.

Johansson - who plays Black Widow in the film - told The Hollywood Reporter last month that the highly-anticipated film is sort of a logistical nightmare:

"Yeah, it's a massive production. We have a lot of sets, and all kinds of vehicles and all kinds different sorts of ships and boats."

Chris Hemsworth on "The Avengers" set

Chris Hemsworth is spotted on the set of The Avengers last Friday in Cleveland (August 19). Chris plays Thor in the film (you can probably tell by his huge arms).

Chris told Access Hollywood last week that a recent scene he filmed for the movie was pretty much the coolest thing he's ever done in his career:

"I think we blew 20 cars up in that sequence. It was one of the biggest things to happen in my life."

UPDATE: Turns out this is Chris' stunt double! They look so much alike!

Chris Evans filming "The Avengers"!

Chris Evans is spotted filming The Avengers today in Cleveland, Ohio (August 16). This is the first time Chris has been spotted in full uniform on set. Back in April, he filmed some scenes in New York as a "civilian" (pics here).

Check out some cool pics (crushed cars, etc.) of The Avengers set being built in Cleveland last week here.

At Comic-Con last month, Chris gave his thought on Captain America's new uniform:

"It's great! It's not a drastic change but it's definitely a modernized.. streamlined version. And it's more comfortable to move around in. [The designers] really put a lot of work into making it close to the comic look.. the ones fans are itching to have realized on film."

Cool pics from the set of "The Avengers"

On the set of "The Avengers"

Check out the crushed cars on the set of The Avengers in Cleveland, Ohio yesterday (August 10). But don't worry, no cab drivers were hurt in the making of the set, lol - the "stone" is actually foam.

After shooting scenes in Sante Fe, New Mexico (pics here) and New York (pics here) earlier this year, The Avengers kicked off production this week in Cleveland. Expect the crew to be in town for a few weeks. Midwest Movie Maker has more about the production:

"A friend is excited to be an extra on the shoot, but he's sworn to secrecy, so we want to respect that. What we can tell you is a lot you probably already anticipated: there will be explosions downtown, there will be a big battle downtown, and that battle will turn up on film somewhere near the end of the movie."

Scarlett Johansson on the set of "The Avengers"

A tired-looking Scarlett Johansson is spotted on the set of The Avengers last week in Santa Fe, New Mexico (June 8). The film began production back in late April (check out a really cool picture from director Joss Whedon here).

During a surprise appearance at the Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood on Sunday, Scarlett's co-star Robert Downey Jr. joked that he can't the film so far:

"Well, I hate everybody. I'm not talking about the cast, I'm not talking about Joss. What I mean is I tend to look at a scene and say 'This is absolutely impossible, we can't shoot this, it's horrible. I can tell you 10 other movies it's been in, I refuse.' I usually start off the morning by refusing to do what I've signed on to do.

"How are you gonna put all of us clowns together? He's wearing a suit, he's all jacked up, he's so and so, and poor Mark Ruffalo, he's gonna outdo us. And we're about six weeks in, and I have to say Joss Whedon is nailing it. He's so smart and so good. And it's gonna be great. I can't believe I just said it. I never could've believed this, but it's gonna be great."

Samuel L. Jackson on the set of "The Avengers"

Samuel L. Jackson is spotted on the set of The Avengers over the weekend in New York (April 23). Jackson plays Nick Fury in the film - the same role he played in Iron Man and Iron Man 2. These pics were taken the same day Chris Evans was seen on set (you can also see Evans with Jackson in a few of the pics in the gallery below).

Obsessed With Film is asking how much you would pay for a script to The Avengers? The site was contacted by an anonymous source who claims to have a leaked script from the film belong to Samuel L. Jackson:

"I have one hard copy that I am looking to sell and I will not be making any copies, therefore exclusivity is guaranteed. Considering that the release of The Avengers is over a year away this script should generate a substantial amount of traffic for the website that acquires it."

On the set of "The Avengers"

Here's the first "official" picture from the set of The Avengers in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Chris Evans - aka Captain America - was spotted by paparazzi on Saturday in Manhattan). The picture shows the on-set chairs of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Evans), and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Marvel posted the pic to their website and also confirmed some casting details:

"Production has commenced today in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Marvel Studios' highly anticipated movie Marvel's The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon (Serenity) from a screenplay by Whedon. The film will continue principal photography in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man, Iron Man 2) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) as Thor, Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (Thor, The Hurt Locker) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (The Kids Are Alright) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (Iron Man, Thor) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (Iron Man, Iron Man 2) as Nick Fury. Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, Marvel's The Avengers is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009."
