Earlier we saw Nicole Kidman filming a scene for the upcoming World War II era film The Railway Man in Berwick, Scotland. It turns out that Colin Firth was also there on May 16th filming some of his scenes for the film.

No doubt that the married father of two will be looking to earn another Academy Award win or at least a nominee with this performance. With the talent he has, I'm convinced he'll at least be up for consideration. Although with all of the awards he's been nominated for or won in his career, I'm still upset that none were for Love Actually. I actually love that movie! (That was a lame joke, I know, but it's Friday so leave me alone.)

Aussie actress Nicole Kidman was caught filming a scene for her upcoming film The Railway Man in Berwick, Scotland on May 16th. The Oscar winner was also spotted at the Cannes Film Festival this week for her latest role in The Paperboy. From Tribune.com:
"Nicole Kidman plays an “oversexed Barbie doll” in the hard-hitting murder drama The Paperboy, premiering at the Cannes film festival on Thursday and notable for arresting scenes of sex and violence.

In the adaptation of a Pete Dexter novel, the Australian Oscar winner plays trailer-trash bombshell Charlotte Bless, who is obsessed with a man on death row with whom she exchanges letters.
She is drawn into a newspaper investigation into the prisoner, who may have been wrongfully convicted, triggering a frantic series of sexual encounters, humorous exchanges and a dangerous game of violence and death in the Florida swamps."
Nicole Kidman is a one of a kind actress, as the mother of 4 blends seamlessly from "oversexed Barbie doll" to WWII correspondent Martha Gellhorn and now to the role of Patricia in a movie about a victim of that same war. I'm not sure which of her upcoming movies' I'm more excited for.

Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman were recently seen on the set of The Railway Man in Australia. From guardian.co.uk:
"The film, directed by Jonathan Teplitzky, starts filming in Scotland on Monday(May1). It is based on (Eric) Lomax's book of the same name, which tells of his suffering as a young Scottish POW on the Burma railway and how, with the help of his wife, he travelled back to Asia to meet one of his torturers in an attempt let go of a lifetime of bitterness and hate.

Wow, that sounds like a deeply serious and moving story. Much too serious for the likes of us, so we'll just focus on the actors looking great on the set. No release date has been set but once it is I think we all should watch this story to further understand how devastating war can truly be.

Zac plays Jack James in the movie, a paperboy for the Moat County Tribune (and also the son of the editor and publisher). When Jack's older brother Ward - who works for the Miami Times - comes back to town to investigate the four-year-old murder of the local sheriff, Jack helps out.
Sofia Vergara was originally cast in the lead role but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with Modern Family.

Nicole Kidman, Lars Ulrich, Rodrigo Santoro, and Clive Owen are spotted last week on the set of Hemingway & Gellhorn in Livermore, Calif., right across the bay from San Francisco (April 6).
Of course you Metallica fans recognize Lars as the drummer and founding member of the iconic band. He plays the Dutch documentarian and committed communist Joris Ivens in the new film about Ernest Hemingway and his third wife Martha Gellhorn. Ivens made the propaganda film The Spanish Earth during the Spanish Civil War, which was actually narrated by Hemingway in the English translation of the film.
Ivens, Hemingway, and Gellhorn screened the film at the White House on July 8, 1937 after having dinner with President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor.

Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman
Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman are spotted filming Hemingway & Gellhorn on location in San Livermore, Calif. on Monday (April 4). The two were recreating a scene from the Spanish Civil War in a pasture at the corner of Manning Road and Morgan Territory in Livermore, which is in Alameda County (across the bay from San Francisco).
According to the Livermore Patch, Kidman has been exceedingly friendly with locals:
"During the first day of shooting, a few cars lined the country road, with curious folks taking a peek at the filming in this rural area just outside of town. One of the crew told a bystander who asked why they came to Livermore that it had everything they needed for the scene.
'We needed a running creek and some hills,' he said. 'This worked out just fine for us.'
"And for those who came to watch the action near the end of the day, there was a special treat. After shooting wrapped about 7:15 p.m., Kidman's car was exiting the pasture gate when she had her driver stop in front of six adults and five children. The affable actress hopped out of the cream-colored Cadillac and chatted briefly with a few families standing by the gate. The stylish actress and mother of four hugged the children and even posed for pictures with the shocked bystanders."

Nicole Kidman is spotted on the set of her new HBO film Hemingway & Gellhorn at the historic Herbst Theatre in San Francisco on Friday (April 1). Clive Owen was also seen on set - check out the pics in the gallery.
Making a surprise cameo, Metallica's Lars Ulrich was also spotted on the set of the Ernest Hemingway biopic a few weeks ago dressed as Dutch documentarian Joris Ivens. Talk about a change of pace for him!
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the cast and crew have definitely taken the old adage "the early bird gets the worm" to heart:
"And the movie moves on: Latest sighting of the Hemingway & Gellhorn gang was at St. Vincent's School for Boys in Marinwood. Darcy Lichter, who lives nearby, says the trucks and 'army of people yakking and yelling,' were on the scene just before 5 a.m. Wednesday, leaving her a bit sleep-deprived. No doubt, she'll see the movie anyway."
