Throwback Thursday is a weekly update that we do here on Caught on Set. Every Thursday we post pictures from the set of a movie you haven’t seen in a while, or possibly ever.
Something's Got To Give is a special kind of Throwback. This movie was filmed in 1962, starring Dean Martin, Cyd Charisse and of course Marilyn Monroe in what would be her final film. Unlike the other movies we have featured in the Throwback Thursday series, Something's Got to Give was never completed and the footage wasn't released until 2001 when the 37 minutes of usable footage was turned into a segment of AMC's documentary Marilyn Monroe: The Final Days.

The story behind this picture is quite intriguing. It was intended to be a remake of My Favorite Wife (1940) which starred Irenne Dunne and Cary Grant. In just a few weeks of filming, the erratic behavior of Monroe pushed the film more than $1 million over budget and caused the studio heads to fire the blonde bombshell. Lee Remick was hired to replace her, however Dean Martin refused to finish the film with any actress other than Marilyn playing her part. Reluctantly the studio decided to rehire Ms. Monroe, but sadly she passed away suddenly in August of 1962 and the project was abandoned. Thus leaving the production with only 37 minutes of useable footage.
