A Look Back: "Magic Mike"

“A Look Back” is a series of posts we here at Caughtonset.com feature weekly. It’s as simple as the title makes it sound. Each Friday we will take “A Look Back” to the set of a newly released film. Look at pictures from the set today, then watch the movie tonight.

Magic Mike just might be one of the most anticipated movies of all time. At least of this year. By women. I don't think it's just me who can't contain myself waiting to see Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew Bomer and Channing Tatum play strippers. Magic Mike will be competing with several new releases, as well as Disney's Brave, for the number one slot at the box office.

Take it all off and you'll have every woman across the country rushing to see your movie. Sorry I got a little excited there. Oh I guess there are some actresses in the movie also. Some people named Riley Keough and Olivia Munn to name a few. I don't know why they are in there, just show us ladies the goods and we will all watch this movie...twice. Also starring in Magic Mike is True Blood star Joe Manganiello. He told Access Hollywood earlier this week that he's having a blast on set as stripper "Big Dick Richie":

"[It's] so much fun. I've had several requests to save the firemen costume since I started shooting. So if that one disappears at the end..."

According to director Steven Soderbergh, the film - in which an older exotic dancer (Channing Tatum) shows a younger one (Pettyfer) the tricks of the trade - is going to be a must-see:

"It's sexy, funny and shocking. We're using Saturday Night Fever as our model, so hopefully we're on the right track."

Tatum told Collider earlier this year if he has any sort of strategy for his career:

"There's not really a strategy but I do want to take some time and try to reinvent and get better and maybe get behind the camera a little more. I do want to try to direct at some point, start failing really early (laughs), start shooting videos and then commercials and then hopefully do some narrative."

Matthew Bomer is a "Magic Mike" man

Bomer - who also plays Neal Caffrey on the hit USA show White Collar - recently sat down with The Advocate for an interview. One of the topics that came up was gay marriage, and Bomer said:

"It's sad that in 2011 we even have to discuss the fight for marriage equality in the United States. How can we say that we're a country that grants liberty and justice for all, and yet denies same-sex couples the right to marry? I feel that the generations to come will view this time period in terms of civil rights for the LGBT community as pretty sad and unnecessary."

Matthew told Esquire earlier this year why her prefers to vacation in out-of-the-way destinations as opposed to the glitz and glamor of Europe"

"You know why I don't go to Europe for these trips? Because in Europe everything pretty much works, or it almost works. I mean, it's almost what I'm used to. But Peru, Mali, Morocco? Nothing works. Nothing. So you have to give up on what you know. At least I do. And for a while it's very uncomfortable. Extremely. I mean you're faking the language as best you can, nodding at things you probably shouldn't be, and you start to miss the things you know. And you need to eat."

Riley Keough is spotted on the set of her new film Magic Mike in Los Angeles on Tuesday (September 27). Riley is the oldest grandchild of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley.

Riley and mother Lisa Marie Presley are actually clashing over her role in Magic Mike. A source told the National Enquirer:

"Priscilla told Riley that they've worked hard to protect the Presley name, and she could easily spoil it. She insisted she was going to play a stripper because it was a great part - and there was nothing they could do about it!"
