Judi Dench is spotted on the set of J. Edgar Friday in Los Angeles (Feb. 11). The 76-year-old actress plays J. Edgar Hoover's mother Anne Marie in the film.

Over the weekend, the New York Times had a great feature on Judi and how she's more active than ever in the industry. She just spent nine weeks in India filming The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and then dove right into the filming of J. Edgar. Dench told the paper:

"What is the percentage of people doing the job they absolutely love in this world? Two percent? Three? Surely not more. I don't want to rest. It's like putting a car in a garage. It's hard to get it started after that."

DiCaprio, Dench, and Hammer filming at the Orpheum

Leonardo DiCaprio, Judi Dench, and Armie Hammer are caught on set filming J. Edgar last night at Los Angeles' historic Orpheum Theater. Of course DiCaprio is playing the lead as former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, while Dench is playing his mother, and Hammer his assistant/lover.

The trio were recreating the 1935 premiere of G-Men, which starred James Cagney. Hoover personally approved the script of the film and even assigned FBI agents to monitor the authenticity of the production.

A young actress playing Shirley Temple was also spotted on set. Hoover and Temple were known to be good friends in real life. What an odd pairing!
