Criminal Minds Returns For Season 8

The cast of Criminal Minds headed back to the studio to begin filming season 8 of the hit CBS drama. The cast was photographed by Vernon Cheek, who posted them to his twitter account. He tweeted with the following with the headline picture:

"The ladies for season 8 of Criminal Minds including newest cast member Jeanne Tripplehorn who will play Alex Blake."

It's so much cooler when you find out that the cast of your favorite shows actually get a long with and like each other.

Shemar Moore on the set of "Criminal Minds"

Shemar Moore is seen on the set of Criminal Minds in Los Angeles on Wednesday (July 6). That's Criminal Minds producer/showrunner Erica Messer leaning into the car.

While the show certainly deals with some pretty heavy topics, Mantegna told the Kansas City Star last week that he and his co-stars try to keep the atmosphere light on set:

"What people don't tend to understand is the experience of working on stuff doesn't necessarily parallel to what the material's about. When I'm making Criminal Minds, as grim as the material is, the atmosphere on the set is not like that at all. You are talking a family-like atmosphere where we all like each other and have a good time. It's only those moments when you are doing the material that it gets heavy and serious. I am spending far more time on a set being Joe than I am being David Rossi."
