The Weekend Winner: "The Expendables 2"

The Weekend Winner is a weekly update here on Caught on Set. Every Monday we will post pictures from the set of the movie that wins the box office battle over the weekend.

In the worst weekend at the box office this year, The Expendables 2 once again topped the list. Numbers were down across the board as the number 1 movie only made $13.5 million. This weekend's 3 nationwide releases didn't fare so well as none of those 3 made this weekend's top 5.

Of the movies that did make the top 5 all of their grosses dropped 35% or more over last weekend. That's pretty horrible news. I guess this is what they were talking about when they tried to ban the internet or whatever. Although I don't believe that people being able to download movies is the cause of this bad weekend at the box office.

The Weekend Winner is a weekly update here on Caught on Set. Every Monday we will post pictures from the set of the movie that wins the box office battle over the weekend.

As many people expected The Expendables 2 was the big winner at the box office this weekend. The action sequel earned over $28 million. The success of the movie was pretty expected and largely dependent on it's cast. Featuring some of the biggest names in the history of action movies as well as several younger ones as well.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Liam Hemsworth, Randy Couture, Sylvester Stallone and Terry Crews. All in the same damn movie! Of course this thing is going to make money. The most surprising thing from this weekend is the fact that TDKR is no longer in the top 5. After 5 weeks in theaters it's still able to earn over $11 million to finish in sixth place.

Jason Statham is a hot "Hummingbird"

Jason Statham was seen in London this weekend on the set of his latest film Hummingbird. From Ineedmyfix.com:

"...our man Jason Statham’s new movie currently filming for first time director Steven Knight (Eastern Promises). There's actually a lot of talent behind the scenes here, including the Oscar nominated cinematographer Chris Menges(The Reader). The film sees The Stath as “a veteran haunted by a tragic past who assumes the identity of an upper class Londoner. His character’s girlfriend is found dead, and he has to stop hiding from his past, and go on the hunt for those responsible."

I'm not sure if I can buy Jason Statham as a respectable citizen and by "respectable" I mean someone who isn't kicking ass all over the screen. So the film will really pick up once we see him revert to his past self and go on the hunt.

Jason Statham is a bad*ss bald guy

Jason Statham is spotted on the set of his film Parker in Miami Beach on Friday (September 23). Someone bought their tickets to the gun show!

Also seen on set was Jennifer Lopez and director Taylor Hackford - check out the pics in the gallery.

Statham told the Guardian last week that he's able to stay in such great shape by eating only 2,000 calories a day, broken up into six small meals. However, he wasn't always so careful about counting calories:

"[A few years back] I never gave a f*ck about a calorie. An apple? It's good for me. I'd have five. Bananas? Eat the bunch."

"Parker" continues filming in Miami

Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham are spotted filming Parker in Miami on Wednesday (September 21). The two were cruising in an ultra-expensive baby blue Bentley in the scene.

In an interview with BBC earlier this week, Statham revealed that his film idol is none other than Mr. Tough Guy himself, Clint Eastwood:

"Clint Eastwood has always been someone that I've looked up to. He plays a brilliant hero and he doesn't have to throw people around too much. So if I could get five per cent of how cool Clint does his action movies I'd be very happy."

Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham are a "Parker" pair

Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham

Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham are spotted filming Parker on the balcony of a hotel in Miami on Tuesday (September 20). I'm actually sorta liking J.Lo's conservative dress and haircut. It's a nice change of pace.

Alan Poul, who directed Lopez in the 2010 romcom The Back-up Plan, told Entertainment Weekly that he movie career is picking up because of her time on American Idol:

"The public memory is mercilessly short. Jennifer took time off to be a mother, and that unselfish little hiatus put some distance between her and her audience. Idol reminded people what an approachable, generous, and friendly person she is at heart."

Jason and J.Lo on the set of "Parker"

Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez are spotted filming their new movie Parker earlier this week in Palm Beach, Florida (September 19). Statham was wearing a seriously-cool cowboy hat in the scene.

The Palm Beach Daily News says that Statham and Lopez were making quite a scene while filming:

"After a lunch break, the actors were pulled down Peruvian and Worth avenues several times while the actors were seated in a Mazda SUV. Police escorted a short caravan of vehicles, including the flatbed, as they made their way through town, with many store owners, employees and passersby pausing to catch a glimpse of Lopez and Statham."
