Looking back to the set of "The Avengers"

The latest blockbuster hit to come from the Marvel Universe was Paramount Pictures' The Avengers. The super hero flick has been tearing up the charts, bringing in a whopping $384 MILLION in it's opening weekend! Many reasons have played a part in the success of the film, however one might have been overlooked. Nutritionist Kimberly Snyder. She worked on set and was responsible for the nutrition of many of the actors. From Kimberly Snyder's website:

"To say it was a blast to work on the Avengers set would be a huge understatement! The actors are absolute sweethearts, which is saying a lot considering the incredibly heavy costumes they had to wear and extremely long days and shooting schedule, which included a lot of all-night shoots."

If her guidance and smoothies can help the actors look like they do, I'll take some. A lot of people went to see the movie because of the special effects, comic books or previous individual movies, but I bet a whole lot also went to see the hot actors in tight costumes. So let's give the nutritionists some love and take a look at Kimberly's pictures from the set with actors Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Chris Evans.

Chris Evans is spotted getting a little goofy on the set of The Avengers in New York over the weekend (September 3). I guess working 15-hour-days can turn someone a little stir crazy.

Captain America director Joe Johnson told GQ earlier this year that Chris absolutely nailed the role of the wholesome superhero - a role that's much tougher than people realize:

"That's the kind of thing that can get really melodramatic and overearnest if you're not careful. But Chris handled it perfectly, shading it just right, translating the comic character into flesh and blood."

Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are spotted on the set of The Avengers at Bethesda Fountain in New York last Friday (September 2). Chris plays Captain America in the film and of course Robert plays Mr. Iron Man himself, Tony Stark.

Speaking of Hiddleston, he told MTV last week that the fight scenes in the film are going to be "breathtaking":

"It's so fun and so hard. I have had so many fights in this but it's going to be breathtaking. The action in this film is going to be breathtaking. The stunt team is the greatest in the world, everyone's really dialed in. That's part of the reason you go to see Avengers. You go to see what happens when all these superheroes go toe-to-toe. When half the people in the film can fly, you know it's going to be incredible. The challenge is to make it dynamic and quick and athletic, but also I'm wearing 40 pounds of leather and metal."

Chris Evans filming "The Avengers"!

Chris Evans is spotted filming The Avengers today in Cleveland, Ohio (August 16). This is the first time Chris has been spotted in full uniform on set. Back in April, he filmed some scenes in New York as a "civilian" (pics here).

Check out some cool pics (crushed cars, etc.) of The Avengers set being built in Cleveland last week here.

At Comic-Con last month, Chris gave his thought on Captain America's new uniform:

"It's great! It's not a drastic change but it's definitely a modernized.. streamlined version. And it's more comfortable to move around in. [The designers] really put a lot of work into making it close to the comic look.. the ones fans are itching to have realized on film."

Chris Evans filming "The Avengers"

Chris Evans is spotted on the set of The Avengers in Manhattan on Saturday (April 23).

The Avengers, also starring Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson, is the superhero sequel to the hugely-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, which hits theaters this Summer. Whoa, they're definitely not wasting any time with this film!

Here's what director Joss Whedon said on his blog Whedonesque about the film's kick-off:

"Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I'm legally permitted to say that). Day one. That's right. We'll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address:

"[Marvel Lawyers rush in, take Joss's keyboard, blowtorch a picture of his family like in 'Stormy Monday', drink his milkshake, leave the seat up, fluff his pillows, violently unfluff his pillows, leave]

"Went too far. My bad. Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this. I'll be checking in from time to time, if there's news or I crave attention (i.e. am awake)."
