Jorge Garcia and Sarah Jones are spotted filming their new series Alcatraz at the Royal Bank Tower in Vancouver on Saturday (October 8). Filming stretched long into the night. Hope they had some coffee!

Alcatraz creator J.J. Abrams told Wetpaint more about the new show last month:

"Alcatraz is a cool show that Elizabeth Sarnoff created, who was on the Lost team. It's a cool mystery that takes place present day about Alcatraz and what happened 50 years ago on that island. [It's] a very different show to Lost and hopefully people will be asking different questions."

Sarah Jones is spotted on the set of the highly-anticipated new time-traveling sci-fi series Alcatraz in Vancouver earlier this week (September 13). Also seen on set was actor Sam Neill - check out the pics in the gallery.

Alcatraz executive producer/writer Liz Sarnoff tells the new issue of SFX magazine that the show isn't just a repackaged version of the previous show she worked on, Lost:

"I was really taken with the idea of exploring 1960s Alcatraz. When the idea was brought to me the show was not going to use flashbacks as a regular structural tool. I thought if we're going to do a show called Alcatraz we better be in Alcatraz and we better be there when the place was up and running and the coolest guys were there."

Video from the "Alcatraz" set

Here's a few videos taken on the set of J.J. Abrams' new series Alcatraz earlier this month. In the video above (filmed in San Francisco on Filbert St. between Hyde and Leavenworth), gunshots can be heard. Pretty cool. And in the video below, also filmed in San Francisco, you can hear one of the actors yelling "SHOW ME YOUR HANDS!" at, presumably, one of the escaped prisoners.

This show is already looking really cool. I guess you could say I'm a J.J. junkie.

Jorge Garcia on the set of "Alcatraz"

January 26 -- Jorge Garcia is seen on the set of the new Fox series Alcatraz in Vancouver.

Produced by J.J. Abrams -- who Garcia also worked with on Lost -- the show follows police officer Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) as she works with the FBI to track down a group of missing Alcatraz prisoners who reappear in the present day. Garcia will play Alcatraz expert Dr. Diego Soto in the pilot.

Though filming will mainly be done in Vancouver (the pilot was shot in Downtown Eastside), some scenes will be shot at Alcatraz itself in San Francisco.
